From Director's Desk
The School of Nanotechnology- Rajiv Gandhi Proudhyogiki Vishwavidyalaya is one of the premier institutions on nanotechnology in Madhya Pradesh. It offers full-time degree courses in M. Tech. and Ph.D. in Nanotechnology. Nanotechnology is an interdisciplinary field, so graduates of all branches of engineering and science are eligible to take up these courses.
We also offer an Under Graduate Three Credits Elective Course on nanotechnology for in-house engineering students of RGPV which they can take up in the second or third year of their B. Tech degree.
We are about to announce a “Nano Knower Certification Course†and the awardee of this certificate will be knowledgeable about the basics of Nano Science and Technology. This certification would also be recognized as the industrial training or Non-Credit Course as a part of the graduation curriculum.
The faculty member of our department is selected by the All India Council of Technical Education - New Delhi, for developing MOOCs course for SWAYAM. By virtue of this, we have presence on SWAYAM portal as well.
The department has smart classrooms, a library, an E-library, and well-equipped laboratories for the learners of nanotechnology. One of our laps is equipped with a setup for Augmented reality and Virtual reality through which advanced subjective contents are demonstrated for the students.
We have a Modelling and Simulation lab in which our students create computer models of nanostructures, study their characterization, and simulate the nanomaterials for various applications. The scholars of the department pursue research projects of their own interest in various fields of the latest relevance.
Some of them worth mentioning here are:
- Synthesis and characterization of carbon nanomaterials that find applications in Nano electronics Organic LEDs and QCD screens.
- A team of scholars is also working on developing alternative materials for solar cells and photovoltaic cells for improving their efficiency, thereby contributing to the field of renewable energy development.
- A group of scholars is developing active anode material for Lithium Ion Batteries for specific applications in Electric Vehicles. This is very important in the upcoming era of EVs.
This school of Nanotechnology enjoys the privilege of being connected with alumni placed in prestigious positions all over the globe.
We altogether are committed to inculcating a culture of research and innovation in the department. The aim is to provide quality interdisciplinary science and engineering education and foster an entrepreneurship attitude in our scholars thereby developing a center that attains global recognition.
